THS Science Club / Club de Ciencias de THS
he Science club, we look at many aspects of science and nature, whether it is helping our local audubon, planting native plants, helping the community, or even doing our own research into important figures of science. Our Science Club takes pride in helping and providing for the community. For example, we have an annual native plant sale, here we take the time to research and understand each plant and help customers pick the best one. We also help our local Audubons, Sharon Audubon, specifically. At one point, we took part in their butterfly project, where we helped construct a caterpillar rearing lab, which is now being used to raise caterpillars until they emerge as Monarch butterflies.
Science club is a time and opportunity for students who are passionate about science to explore many aspects of science they normally would not have learned about in the school system. In this club, we take our time to find new interests for students, for example, birding. This year we had the opportunity to talk with Tykee James, an African American birder. In this meeting, we talked about how to better our club, as well as our new interest in birding, and how we might get started into the experience. Our club takes an important role in helping and maintaining an eco -friendly environment around us as well as in the community. Of course we may strive for knowledge and opportunity, but we also strive to make the world a better place, little by little.
