SEPTEMBER 11 / 11 DE SETIEMBRE
September 11, 2001 was a truly horrific day for the United States. Almost 3000 Americans were killed and about 6000 more were injured after the hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center on that awful day. Americans that were around during that time usually have such vivid memories of what happened, and many will be able to tell exactly where they were and what they were doing when the towers were hit. For the younger generation, however, we could never even imagine the trauma and suffering that occurred on that day.
On the anniversary of the 11th, there are many ceremonies done to honor those that we lost. Many schools and places of business participate in a moment of silence and remembrance to pay their respects. Torrington High School had a wonderful ceremony on September 10. The choir performed the National Anthem beautifully and the JROTC performed a flawless routine. Principal Ledversis and Mary Nelson (JROTC member) gave wonderful speeches, and it was truly a great way to honor those that we lost. Thank you to those of you that participated and thank you to everyone who made the ceremony possible.
