Perché studiare italiano e come ti può aiutare in futuro

English: When it comes to deciding on whether to take a language course, I would suggest taking Italian. One of the reasons you should take Italian is because it can open you up to the culture of Italy and the amazing traditions it has. For example, on Christmas to celebrate Jesus's birth, Italians kiss the hand or foot of a statue of baby Jesus as they exit the church at Christmas Day mass. Another reason why you should take Italian is because you can learn a new language that is still popular in America today. Today, about 709,000 people in the country speak Italian at home, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Finally, one of the last reasons why you should take Italian is because it could be in your heritage and you can learn important facts about the Italian culture in your family. Over 15.7 million people in the United States identify themselves as Italian Americans. They constitute nearly six percent (6%) of the U.S. population.

Connecticut & Calabria Collaboration
By: Aydan Reilly, Emily Zarcone
April 30th, students from Torrington and Cosenza, a city in Calabria, Italy met each other with a zoom video call. It was all coordinated from our teacher Mrs Haversat and their teacher Mrs Mele. Students from both cities were able to meet and talk about the types of music we enjoy, what our cities and schools are like, and about each other's environment during the pandemic. The technology we have today allowed us to connect with each other in many ways such as using an app called Flipgrid to send videos to each other. It was very nice to speak with the Italian students and be able to practice our language skills.
